Our new favorite artist is Jess Franks. Currently residing in the New England area, painter Jess Franks started her career as a graphic designer for magazines and spent many hours looking at great photography. But she discovered that "painting not only allows her to delve back into a more tactile world but also to create scenes in radical colors that no photo could capture." Many of her original paintings have been reproduced as affordable high-quality giclées and we have fallen in love with them!
The boldness and vibrant use of bright colors is precisely why we're enamored with her work. Each piece exudes a captivating energy that instantly draws the eye and ignites the imagination. Her work relishes the influences of post-impressionism and Fauvism, as seen in her fearless brushstrokes and color choices."
Brittanica.com describes Fauvism as "a style of painting that flourished in France around the turn of the 20th century. Fauve artists used pure, brilliant color aggressively applied straight from the paint tubes to create a sense of an explosion on the canvas. The Fauves painted directly from nature, as the Impressionists had before them, but Fauvist works were invested with a strong expressive reaction to the subjects portrayed."
